Framingham Gun Buyback Program nets 132 weapons in 1 day

The MetroWest Health Foundation's Framingham Union Grants Panel joined with Mutual One Bank to sponsor the second gun buyback program in the City of Framingham.

The event, held on April 28th and led by the Framingham Police Department and the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office, netted 132 weapons, including 86 pistols, rifles and shotguns, 41 BB or pellet guns and 5 assault-style weapons.

Framingham Police Lieutenant Sean Riley said it's hard to quantify a gun buyback's effect on cutting crime.  "If we prevented one suicide or domestic-violence incident, then we were successful today," he said.
